⭐️ Herdwick has several types of fiber in its wool. A softer undercoat, guard hairs, the heterotypic hairs (which change consistency with the season: more wool-like for warmth in winter and more hairlike for shedding rain in the summer), and the kemp. This one seems to be mostly the undercoat and the wool-like winter fleece.
🧶 I would flick the locks open and spin from the lock. The wool is coarse and durable but will spin into a springy yarn.
